Kathleen “Kathy” M. (Reed) Moraes, 65, of New Bedford, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Known for her beautiful smile, bubbly personality, infectious laugh and love of her family and friends, she will be greatly missed by her husband of 41 years, Curtis B. Moraes, son Gregory P. Moraes (girlfriend Crystal Shaughnessy), daughter Meaghan Moraes Gerzon (husband Gabe), grandson Ethan, sister Rosemary Reed and her husband Steve Ford, brother Philip Hawley Reed, Jr. (wife Joyce), nephew Michael Reed and niece Michelle Reed, brother-in-law Gary W. Moraes, two aunts, three cousins, and her numerous friends.
Born in Rochester, NY, daughter of the late Philip Hawley and Margaret Mary (Morrow) Reed, she was raised in Rochester having graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School.
A compassionate and loving person, Kathy attended Salve Regina College in Newport, RI to become a nurse. It was there where she met her beloved husband, Curt. She graduated as a Registered Nurse and began her long career with the Southcoast Hospitals Group. She returned to Salve and earned her Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and Management in 2014. Soon after, she became Director of Medical Oncology for Southcoast Health Centers for Cancer Care in both Fairhaven and Fall River.
Kathy was an active member and cantor at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in New Bedford. A music lover, she was a choir member and could often be seen singing solos during holidays. She enjoyed cooking, especially holiday cookies with her family and friends. A shopping enthusiast, she will be missed by both Amazon and Talbots.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 2-5 pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11 am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial is private.
