Judith “Judy” A. (Drake) Porter, age 75, of Westport, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Anne’s Hospital. She was the wife of John “Jack” Porter, Sr. with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Correa) Drake, she lived most of her life in Westport.
A graduate of Barrington High School, class of 1959, she worked as a secretary at Brown University for many years. After she met the love of her life, Jack, she became partner of J.M. Porter Real Estate and Construction until her retirement.
Mrs. Porter loved gardening. Her family was her life. She enjoyed cooking large family meals in her beautiful home. She believed in the power of shared meals to bring loved ones together. She also enjoyed going for long drives and trips with her family. She enjoyed the beauty of nature and found joy in the simple things in life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Jeanne Girard and her husband Matt of Westport and Susan Bisbee and her husband Tim of North Palm Beach, FL, one son: John “Jack” Porter, Jr. and his wife Susan of Little Compton, six grandchildren: Caleb and Catlin Steen, Jackson and Zachariah Porter, and William and Brody Girard, three great-grandchildren: Caleb, Lila, and Axel Steen and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 9:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Rd., Westport. Burial in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
