Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Theotine and Olive (Belliveau) LeBlanc, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford.
He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Mr. LeBlanc was the owner and operator of Al LeBlanc Flooring until his retirement.
Al was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years since 1949. He was a Boy Scout Leader and member of the Catholic Committee of Scouting, receiving numerous awards for his service including the Pelican Award. He was a member and officer of the former Sixth Bristol Club and was a longtime volunteer at St. Mary’s Church.
His family includes a daughter, Linda Taylor and her husband Christopher of Acushnet; a son, Rene LeBlanc of New Bedford; a brother, Albert LeBlanc; his grandchildren, Megan Aguiar and her husband Derek, Noah Taylor and Christopher Taylor, Jr. and his wife Melissa; his great-grandchildren, Leighton and Audrey; and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late, Adam Taylor and the brother of the late Della Bolduc, Louis, Henry, Ovila and Raymond LeBlanc.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday from 4-7pm. Masks are required at funeral home and church.
