Joseph D. LeBlanc of Acushnet and New Bedford passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, on Thursday, December 09, 2021 peacefully, after a period of declining health, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Lorraine (Bergeron) for 68 years.
Born in New Bedford on February 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Edward and Theresa (Barry) LeBlanc.
Joe served in the Navy during the Korean War and later worked as a driver/salesman for Wonder Bread until his retirement.
He and his wife lived in Sarasota, Fl for 27 years, before returning home to Massachusetts. He worked at Sunrise Golf Club for many years while living in Florida. Joe was a co-founder of the Whalers Golfers Club, which included many golfers from the New England area.
An avid golfer, Joe was a member of the Hawthorn CC, Whaling City Golf Club, and Reservation Golf Club.
He was a member of the American Legion and a longstanding member of the Panther Club of NB, where he played and coached baseball during his younger years.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lorraine is his son, Donald and wife Sandra, his grandson Brandon and his wife Rachael, and his great-grandsons Jonah and Nolan; brother Charles LeBlanc, sisters Rosemary Losert and Monica Ward; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, sister Louise Cordeiro, brothers Jerry and Paul LeBlanc.
