Joaozinho “Amanha” DaSilva, age 58 of New Bedford, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Ericka (Gomes)DaSilva to whom he had been married for 24 years.
Born in Guinea, West Africa, he was the son of V’bati Cai and Binta M. DaSilva.
Amanha, was a local musician who played in a band all around the Cape Verde islands before he came to the US in the late 80’s. Amanha was known for his generosity, his kindness and for always keeping on a smile on his face.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Shaneiqua Gomes Devinee Gomes, Brittney Gomes and Desiree Gomes; and two granddaughters Ni’Yani Goode and Ny’Raya Gomes.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 4 to 7PM in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.
