Grace A. “Gracie” (Daub) Vieira, age 49, of Rochester died October 2, 2011 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Paterno and Clarita (Piocnacia) Daub of Cebu, Philippines. She was the wife of Roy A. Vieira.
Born in the Philippines, she came to the United States in 1982 and lived in the New Bedford area for the past 29 years. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of Bristol Community College, and worked at Charlton Memorial Hospital and various Nursing Homes in the area. She especially enjoyed working one on one with her patients. Her true joy in life was her husband, sons and family. She will be sadly missed by all. Her favorite pastime was singing Karaoke. Her dream trip of someday traveling to Hawaii became a reality last month.
Surviving in addition to her husband: 2 sons: Christopher Motta of Boston, T.J. Motta of New Bedford, 2 step-sons: Derek R. Vieira and his wife Lori of Assonet, Chad A. Vieira of Dartmouth, 2 sisters: Roselyn Mamalias of Philippines, Sonia Bryant of Canada, 2 brothers: James Daub and Paterno Daub, Jr., both of Rochester, grandson Nathan Vieira of Dartmouth, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Roger Daub.
Her visiting hours will be held THURSDAY, Oct. 6, 2011 from 4-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Cremation to follow with a Graveside Service at a day and time to be announced.
