Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Gilbert Gonzalez and Pastora Arrollo of Puerto Rico.
Gilberto was a very talented Musician, playing the guitar. He was also a Mechanic and very involved in community outreach and serving the community.
In addition to his mother survivors include: three children, Shylah Gonzalez and her husband Omar Rivera of New Bedford, Ronald Gonzalez also of New Bedford and Tynese Gonzalez of Lawrence; eight grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Margie Gonzalez and one brother.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Friday, February 13, 2015 at 3 PM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours 12-3 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
