George Patterson, 92, of Acushnet passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 23, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Tremblay) Patterson whom with he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in New Jersey, a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Rahl) Patterson, he grew up there and moved to the area while serving in the Navy in Newport, RI.
George was a proud Navy Veteran who served during World War II and the Korean War on the USS Yorktown, USS Antietam, and USS Shangri-La Essex-class aircraft carriers. He later worked as a production controller at Continental Screw Company, and an inspector at Acushnet Company, and Varian.
He and his family loved to travel. They visited Disney World 22 times and would travel to Las Vegas twice a year during his retirement. He also enjoyed smaller day trips around the Southcoast. George loved to go to the Phoenix for breakfast and eating at the 99 restaurant. He was a happy man that also enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Patterson and his wife Jessica of Amesbury and Nancy Demers and her husband Joseph of Bourne; and five grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Kyle, Ryan, and Eve.
