George Roger Dupuis Jr.

George R. Dupuis, Jr., “Pépère”, age 86, of New Bedford, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Yvonne L. (Croteau) Dupuis.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late George R. and Bertha (Lemieux) Dupuis, he was a lifelong resident of the city and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

George worked as a cloth cutter for many years. He was a former treasurer of the New Bedford Lions Club, participated in the Relay for Life, and was a handyman who loved the outdoors.

His family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for the wonderful care provided to George.

He is survived by eight children, Richard Dupuis and his wife Tammy of Peoria, AZ, Diane Dallaire and her life partner Richard of Saugus, Susan Ellis and her husband Stephen of Acushnet, Rita Hall and her husband George of New Bedford, Mark Dupuis and his wife Donna of Acushnet, Joanne Harrison and her husband Steve of Fall River, Michael Dupuis and his wife Kristin and Lisa Belanger and her husband Marc of New Bedford; and a sister-in-law, Rita Dupuis of New Bedford. He was the proud Pépère of 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ronald Dupuis and brother of the late Paul Dupuis.

His Funeral will be Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 9AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by his Funeral Mass at 10AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford.
