Doris L Boswell

Doris (Legere) Boswell, 97, of New Bedford and formerly of Acushnet passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Sacred Heart Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Lawrence “Lefty” Boswell.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late William J. and Exilie (St. Aubin) Legere she was a lifelong area resident. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Mrs. Boswell worked as a certified nursing assistant at Sacred Heart Nursing Home. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, vacationing, and spending time with family and grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Carol Botelho and her husband Robert J., Ronald J. Boswell and his wife Diana, and Richard G. Boswell and his wife Geri all of New Bedford; a sister, Simone Brunette of New Bedford; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew. She was mother of the late Michael “Boz” Boswell; great grandmother of the late Samuel Demers; and sister of the late Joseph Legere, Wilfred Legere, Theo Legere, Alice Cormier, Rita Ellis, and Jeannette Picard.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Parish, Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be prior Monday 8-9:30 a.m. in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
