Born in New Bedford, Diane was the daughter of Doris (Bouley) Deschenes and the late Roland P. Deschenes.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1980 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in sociology from Southeastern Massachusetts University, currently
U Mass Dartmouth, in 1984. Ms. Gallagher was a program director at the Brockton Public Schools.
Diane was an accomplished horsewoman who still had her childhood pony, Santana until he passed away, well into his thirties. She also adored her dogs, especially Charlotte, Emily. Liddy, and Sky. Diane was a self-taught gourmet cook who, just like her Dad, loved to feed people. She was always upbeat and cheerful, a joy to be around.
Surviving are her mother, one sister; Carolyn Sansoucy and her companion William Major of East Freetown, two brothers; Roland Deschenes Jr. and his companion Jan Bauver of Florence, MA and David Deschenes and his wife Judith of Providence, RI, three nephews; Gregory Deschenes of Freetown, Staff Sergeant Brian Deschenes of Texas and Benjamin Deschenes of Providence, RI.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 5-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:45pm. Burial will be private.
