Born in Brockton, son of the late Marcel and Jeanne (Meunier) Champagne, he had lived in Hawaii for many years before moving to Wareham.
Mr. Champagne was a graduate of De La Salle Academy in Newport and served in the United States Air Force.
He had worked as an electrical engineer for Hale Koa Hotel in Hawaii.
He enjoyed music, playing the violin, dancing, outdoors, fishing, hunting, photography and painting.
He is survived by his children, Tracy Lake and her husband Don, Scheree Schmidt and her husband Tony, Brian Champagne and his wife Janna, Laura Hall and her husband Alan and Megan King and her husband David all of Oregon; his step-mother Irene Champagne of Tiverton; his brother James R. Champagne and his wife Suzanne of Virginia; his sister Judy R. Simpson and her husband John of Rochester; his sister from another mother Dorothy Pires and her husband James of Dartmouth; his step-sister Michelle Fontaine of Tiverton; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-brother Richard Fontaine.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 6-8pm with a Celebration of Life at 7:30pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Donations in Carlton’s memory may be made to the American Legion, 80 Myricks St., Berkley, MA 02779.
