Arthur L. Fredette, 72, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. He was the husband of Patricia M. (Almeida) Fredette with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Leo A. and Blanche R. (Bourgeois) Fredette, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He served in the Army National Guard in the 60s.
Mr. Fredette worked as a courier for the Commonwealth Electric Company, which became NStar, until his retirement in 2014.
Arthur was a member of several Drum and Bugle Corps and was a marching band instructor at New Bedford High School during the 1980s. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and especially loved spending time with his three grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Surviving in addition to his wife Patricia are two daughters, Kellie Bizarro and Stacie Gallerani and Stacie’s husband Steven all of Taunton; three grandchildren, Taylor Gallerani, Timothy Gallerani and Kaitlyn Bizarro; an aunt and several cousins.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
