Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Manuel and Adelaide (Souza) Ferreira, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Ferreira proudly served in the United States Army.
He had worked as a finish grinder at Morse Cutting Tools until 1990 when they closed. Known as the “Dancing Limo Driver”, Arthur worked for Right Choice Limousine and was so proud to become the director of corporate transportation at Clean Rentals. He always provided extra special service to his clients with a high level of professionalism, class, old fashioned courtesy and respect.
Arthur loved dancing at all of the local hotspots in town. He was always the life of the party. He had a special talent of creating sailboats and roses out of napkins. He enjoyed traveling and played Santa Clause at Sal’s Pals Day Care for 23 years. He was a big New England sports fan and loved the Red Sox and Patriots. He attended many of the Patriots games in the old Foxborough stadium and at Gillette stadium. He even had the chance to drive some of the Patriots players who, of course, all liked him. Arthur was a selfless, compassionate and caring man who would help anyone in need. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Peter Ferreira of New Bedford; his brother, Francis Ferreira and wife Lil of Rochester; his grandchildren, Jordan and Ashley Ferreira; his best friends, Sally Belanger, David Scott, Mark Bodzioch and Franklin Pina, a friend to Arthur for over 50 years; his former wife, Elizabeth Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Manuel, Ernest, Luiz F. and Lucie Ferreira, Eva Antil and Hilda Gaboriault.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-5 p.m.
