Alice P. daSilva

Born in St. Jorge, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Joao Machado deSousa and Olivia Paiva deSousa, she came to the United States in 1971 and settled in New Bedford.

Mrs. daSilva was a talented seamstress who worked in the local textile industry until her retirement.

Alice was an excellent cook who took great joy in cooking for her family. She enjoyed crocheting and word search puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Luis M. Silva and wife Suzanne of Uncasville, CT, Fatima M. Lomot of Bedford, MA, Paulo J. Silva and wife Lynne of Acushnet, Nelio F. Silva of Cocoa, FL, Anabela Kamps and husband David of Adamsville, RI and Paula M. Silva of Tampa, FL; eight sisters and one brother; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Lucia Silva.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 6-8pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10am in St. John’s Cemetery, Allen St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
