Born in New Bedford, son of the late Victor and Bronislawa (Irczyk) Dabrowski, he had resided in Acushnet for 44 years and wintered in Citrus Park, Bonita Springs, Florida for 16 years.
Al graduated from the New Bedford Vocational School Machine Shop class of 1942. He was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II serving in the 35th infantry division in Central Europe, Rhineland, Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded all the campaign medals. He was a member of the Polish American War Veterans Association of New Bedford.
He retired from the United Stated Postal Service in New Bedford, Central office, as a letter carrier after 23 years of service in 1983. Previously, he worked at Aerovox Corp. for 19 years as a tool and die maker.
Al and his wife traveled extensively and were members of the Fall River Battleship Sams camping group, the Good Sam Club and he enjoyed all sports and games. Al was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife, a son, Robert A. Dabrowski of New Bedford; a daughter, June A. Wright and her husband Russell of W. Yarmouth; two grandchildren, Rebecca L. Balzarini and her husband Michael of Milford and Michael D. Wright and his wife Nieve of Lakeville; five great-grandchildren, Jared, Jacob, Jonathan and Joshua Balzarini and Ellie Wright; and several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. He was the grandfather of the late Robyn A. Dabrowski and Lori B. Wright and brother of the late Josephine and Sophie Turner, Stella Balut and George Dabrowski.
His funeral services are private.
