William E. Deering Sr.

William E. Deering Sr., 82 years of age died Sunday, December 4th 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. Mr. Deering was born January 25th 1929 in New Albany to the late Frank E. Deering Sr. and Nellie Riggle Deering. He retired from Naval Ordinance in Louisville and was a 20 year retired veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War during many proud years serving his country. He was a member of Hobart Beach Post #1693 V.F.W. and American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post #28. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret H. “Pat” Deering; and son, William E. Deering Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Betty Spenneberg of Shepherdsville, KY, Jo A. Weber (Michael) of Danville, VA, Kim Sharp (Michael “Tony”) of New Albany, IN; sister, Betty Deering Owen of Monassas, VA; 7 Grandchildren; Anthony “T.J.”, Melissa, Tracy, Celene, William, Christopher, and Michael; 10 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Wednesday December 7th and after 10:00 am Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will be 12:00 pm Thursday December 8th in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. Expressions of Sympathy to go to the Wounded Warriors Program for Veterans.
