Obituary of Robert L. Geary Sr.
Dateline: Floyds Knobs, Indiana June 14, 2015 Robert L. Geary, Sr., 66, passed away at home Sunday, June 14, 2015 surrounded by family. He was born Oct. 11, 1948 in Jefferson County, Kentucky to Chester L. Geary and Anna L. Tomlinson Geary. The family calls him Bobby and his friends called him Bob. Bob graduated Pleasure Ridge Park High School Class of 1967 and went on to complete Computer Programming at Spencerian Business College 1969 and later United Electronics Institute. Bob was a former employee of the Old Taystee Bread Co. for 15 years and has had various side jobs throughout his life. Bob was an Army Vietnam Veteran and later joined the Kentucky Air National Guard and retired with over 20 years of military service. He was honored with the Kentucky Colonel, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Bob earned a lifetime membership with the VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693. He loved singing songs and being outdoors. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Chester L. Geary and Anna L. Tomlinson Geary. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda L. Beavin Geary; son, Robert L. Geary, Jr., wife Emily; daughter, Hollie L. Geary Meriwether; grandchildren, Evan, Kaytlynn, Alexis, and Branden; siblings, Anita Geary Ferguson, husband Terry, Diana Geary Roberts, Clifton R. Geary, Sr., wife Carolyn, Clinton J. Geary, and James M. Geary; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday and after 10:00 am Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service and Military Honors will be 11:00 am Thursday in the funeral home chapel with private burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
