Mary Jane Buerger

Mary Jane Buerger, 76, of New Albany, Indiana, died at home peacefully in her sleep on December 7, 2022. Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on October 2, 1946, Mary Jane was raised in a big Catholic family alongside her sisters, brother and a crew of extremely close aunts, uncles, and cousins. After graduating from Providence High School in 1964, she briefly trained as a flight attendant before settling down with her husband of 49 years, John Buerger. Over the years, Mary Jane worked a variety of administrative jobs while parenting three daughters. She was quick to delight in the little things: her daily Diet Cokes, cheesy TV movies, long lunches with friends. Her heart was big, as was the circle of people who will miss her friendly face and light spirit. Mary Jane was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua, and her faith was her rock for all her 76 years. She will be mourned by her children Mindy Dablow of New Albany, Jaime Buerger Williams of Brooklyn, New York, and Katy Buerger of Louisville; sons-in-law John Dablow and Garrett Williams; and grandchildren Anna, Caroline and Jack Dablow. In her death, she will be reunited with her beloved husband, John; her parents, William and Dorothy Haller; her sisters, Phyllis Lewis and Sondra Sartini; and her brother, William Haller Jr. Please join us in celebrating Mary Jane’s life. Visitation will be held on December 13 from 3–8 p.m., and the next day from 9–10:30 a.m. at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville on December 14, 2022 with Friar John Bamman presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary Jane’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish.
