Mary Isabelle Stierstaedter Bryant

MARY ISABELLE (STIERSTAEDTER) BRYANT, 90, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at Westport Place Health Center in Louisville, Ky. The daughter of the late Andrew and Irma (Jacobi) Stierstaedter, Mary was born November 22, 1923 in New Albany. She was a graduate of New Albany High School and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany. During WWII, Mary worked as a purchaser of airplane parts for the U.S. Government, moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where she worked as a librarian and then spent the majority of her life as a mother and homemaker. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ira Bryant. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Presley (Ronald T.) and Anita Leonard (Michael R.); grandchildren, Drew Presley (Kristine), Hannah Presley, Cody Presley and Christopher Leonard (Kami); and great granddaughter, Abby Rose McGuire. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. There will be a Rosary Service at 6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Her Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany.
