MARY ANN BERGER, 58, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Judy Horlander King and the late Robert James Grantz, Mary Ann was born June 3, 1958 in New Albany. She earned a Masters Degree in Education, was a special education teacher in Kentucky for 27 years and was the recipient of the WHAS Excel Award for excellence in teaching. Mary Ann changed the lives of everyone she met, but especially the many children she worked with over the years. Along with her passion for teaching, Mary Ann loved to shop, scrapbook, cook, travel and read. She loved her family and cherished her friendships. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hosparus for their special care and compassion extended to Mary Ann and her family.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Charles “Chuck” Berger; son, Aaron Berger (Lindsey); daughter, Erica Hunt (Brad); grandsons, Edan and Beckham Hunt; mother, Judy Horlander King; sisters, Robin Zimmerman, Lisa Dailey and Gina Uland; and 6 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 12:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
