Kathryn "Katie" Palaisa Heavrin

Kathryn "Katie" Palaisa Heavrin, age 63, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away at her home on Monday, October 17, 2022. She was born on July 11, 1959, to the late Anthony and Shirley Palaisa. Katie was a graduate of Jesse Stuart High School. She attended the University of Kentucky earning her degree in Horticulture as well as her Master's degree from Indiana University Southeast. Katie then went on to teach at PRP High School and was a professor at the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women in PeeWee Valley, Kentucky.
Katie was an avid gardener and enjoyed all manner of flowers and plants. She enjoyed scrapbooking, often making photo books for family and friends for their special occasions. She enjoyed boating and loved going to the beach.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Stephanie Palaisa.
Katie leaves behind her loving husband of 38 years, David R. Heavrin; one brother, Anthony Palaisa Jr. (Marsha); and three sisters, Phyllis Risch (Dan), Melanie Palaisa, and Elizabeth Wilson (Ted); along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana.
