Joan Plummer Murphy, 76, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020. The daughter of the late Lawrence “Wack” Plummer, Sr. and Bertha Burden Fleming, Joan was born June 21, 1943 in New Albany. She was a member of the BPW Hoosier Softball Team and retired from Samtec (Clock #3) after many years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Ernest Fleming Sr.; and siblings, Patty Handy, Lawrence Plummer Jr., James Plummer, Jerry Plummer, and Bill Fleming.
Joan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lettie Murphy Leister and Mark A. Leister, Sr.; granddaughter, Angela Leister; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Cory and Camilla Leister; great grandson, Conner Leister; sister, Sherry Stiller (Carl); grand dog, Trooper; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will forever be remembered as a social butterfly, funny, smart, loving to all, generous, and gentle.
There will be a drive-by visitation held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany from 10 am until 12 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Please enter from Charlestown Road and exit onto Old Ford Road. A private burial will follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park and will be streamed onto Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/KraftFuneral.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
