Jettie Mae Caroline Key Lowe, age 88, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. She was admitted to Baptist Hospital in New Albany, Indiana on Tuesday, September 19, and passed away peacefully the next morning.
Jettie was born in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas to Wilbert and Tessie Key on February 1, 1935. Seventeen months later, Jettie’s brother Berlin was born. The family of four moved to Nassau when Jettie was 14. Having just completed her education (at the end of eighth grade), she began to work full-time at the Registrar General’s Office.
In June 1957, Jettie married Lowell “Buddy” Lowe, and they lived in Nassau, where they had four children together. The family relocated to Hollywood, Florida at the end of 1973, and made Hollywood Bible Chapel their church home. Jettie is now with the Savior that she has loved for so many years.
Jettie lived in the same house in Hollywood, Florida for 46 years. She and Buddy were known for their hospitality. Jettie was an easy-going, kind, and loving woman. Her grandchildren fondly remember lots of get-togethers at Mema and Papa’s house with cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Jettie is preceded in death by her husband Buddy and brother Berlin.
Jettie is survived by her four children: Jane Lowe Ashcraft (Tim), Nancy Key (Steven), Susan Coppolella (David), and David Lowe (Loretta); grandchildren: Daniel Wilkes (Haley), Joshua (Laura), James and Jonathan Key, David “DJ” Lowe, Kaden, Kyle, and Kevin Coppolella; great-grandchildren: Ransom and Hosanna Key; and many dear relatives and friends.
Jettie will be buried in South Florida alongside her husband Buddy, who passed away in 2009.
There will be no funeral service, as Jettie had requested.
In lieu of flowers, Jettie would want you to extend hospitality to others.
