James Robert "J.R." Smith Jr.

James Robert "J.R." Smith, Jr., 74 years of age died Wednesday, January 08, 2014 at his home in Memphis, Indiana. He was born August 30, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Robert and Virginia Smith, Sr. J.R. was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from BF Goodrich in Louisville. He was a member of American Legion Post #204 in Sellersburg, Indiana, attended Northside Christian Church in New Albany, Indiana, and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Leister, and brother, Danny Smith. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sharron Key Smith; daughter, Carrie (Joe) Krause of Sellersburg, Indiana; sons, Robbie (Mindy) Smith of Memphis, Indiana, Troy (Ann) Smith of Henryville, Indiana; sisters, Carol (John) Thomas, Judy (Jim) Hutchinson; brothers, Harvey (Diane) Smith, Paul (Junko) Smith, Bruce (Pam) Smith; grandchildren, Katie (Noah) Naville, Ryan Smith, and Cory Krause; great granddaughters, Sophia Naville; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Monday at the Kraft Funeral Chapel with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
