Jacqueline “Jackie” C. (Shea) St. Clair, 89, died Tuesday, July 16. She was born in New Albany, IN, on February 18, 1935, to John L. and Violet M. (Randolph) Shea. She attended Holy Trinity Elementary School and New Albany High School where she was very involved in extracurricular activities including drum majorette for the band and hosting a radio show, to name a few.
Jackie furthered her education at Indiana University Southeast and embarked on a diverse professional journey, including roles at Wayne Supply Company, Ford Motor Company, the Kentucky Air National Guard, and as a real estate agent. She retired from ARCO Oil and Gas Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she served as Manager of the Mid-Continent District Material Records. Upon retirement she and husband Robert (Bob) returned home to the Louisville area, residing in Doe Valley. She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
Jackie married her soulmate, Bob, in 1974. Together they enjoyed traveling across the US, Canada, Europe, the British Isles, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands as well as competing in tennis tournaments and golf outings with friends.
Jackie was a vibrant and accomplished woman whose life was marked by her intelligence, determination, and adventurous spirit. She loved traveling, reading, yoga and indulging in nightly ice cream. She was a licensed hypnotist, loved a good ghost story and was always up for embracing the next adventure with enthusiasm and grace. Jackie cherished her family and was happy winning money on the horse races, double-checking she was paid every penny of her winnings.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her parents, brother John Michael Shea, sister Judy Jacobi, stepdaughter Nancy St. Clair Camp, and son-in-law William “Bill” Pierce. She is survived by daughter Theresa Pierce of Georgetown, IN; sons Lance (Tammy) Lehman of New Albany, IN, Daniel (Rebecca) Lehman of Lutz, FL; stepdaughters Sue (Dana) Kolter of New Albany, IN, Jean Miller of Louisville, KY, Mary (Stan) Paur of Houston, TX, and Anne (Martin) Smithson of Louisville, KY; stepsons Phil (Teresa) St. Clair of Louisville, KY, David (Cathy) St. Clair of Louisville, KY; 24 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; sister Penny (William) Haynes of Sellersburg, IN,; brother in law, John (JoAnn) St. Clair of Louisville, KY and many beloved nieces and nephews.
