I’m so saddened to learn of my former pastor passing. My then husband and myself stumbled into a tiny church in Clarksville one Sunday night and miraculously got saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. We had no idea what happened to us but it was sure a pivotal time in my life and I was never the same afterwards. Pastor Phumphrey was an excellent teacher and I learned so much under him and Marilyn. I really regret that I never got to see him after I moved away and tell him in person what an impact him and Marilyn made in my life. My sincere condolences to the family. Pam Soper Johns

Ernest was one of the kindest souls I have ever met.  He was truly and Angel and I will miss him and his wonderful sense of humor.  It was an absolute honor to be his nurse and I am so thankful that God allowed me to care for him.  Love and prayers to his family.

I worked with and cut up with Ernest for several years at Southern Indiana "Caesars" Casino. We were on the same casino slot technician shifts together. 
We had lunch/dinner a lot together in the break room. He could keep a person laughing. He told me some of his Air Force Viet-Nam stories. We talked a lot.
Rest in Peace my old veteran/work/neighbor friend.

When I was growing up there weren’t many role models to look up to. There were no men of Valor or superheroes to take my steps after. I met many men who were not men of their word….. which there seems to be a shortage of these days. As I became a man there were many things I needed to learn yet there were no teachers who knew me well enough that would give me a fighting chance to make something out of myself. Often times I wondered where I would end up in this life as a man. I never realized how big of a role you played in my life, perhaps you didn’t either. As a man you were quite and humble and never looked for anyone to brag on behalf.  You never expected to be a King, but you had all the qualities of being one. You helped so many people and families and asked for nothing in return. You so often gave, while you did without yourself. I remember many times you helped others even though you physically could do no more all because you simply gave your word. 
As I looked for a role model that only Hollywood could produce, there you were the whole time.  All the things I needed to learn, you taught me. You showed me how to be a man of my word by staying true to the words you gave me. 
When many people hurt you and spoke evil of you, I witnessed for the first time a King cry. Being young I wanted revenge and the wisdom you showed me surpassed my rage.  I saw a King pray for those who cut his heart. 
Since those times I have traveled the world, I have met royal families and I have stood in the company of many great men. I have walked down the walk of fame where I didn’t see your name. I have stood where Christians were slain and I remember the bravery you spoke of as they died for His name. I said to myself… “Someday I will walk down another walk of fame and there I will see your name!”
I will stand in the arena of those who died for His name knowing you would have done the same. This world has seen many great Kings, yet the world did not see the quiet King. 

Marilyn, Paul, Craig, and Sabrina sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.


It is  very devastating to hear that he had past away! He always had a smile on his face. He was very easy to get a long with and I liked him a lot.    May you have peace and happiness in heaven Sonny,,, God bless.  And I pray the family  can heal quickly.  AMEN!!!
