Edward A. Ayers Jr.

Edward A. Ayers Jr., 81, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019. He was born February 4, 1938, in Bullitt County, Kentucky to the late Edward and Margaret Ayers and was a retired Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army serving three tours in Vietnam. Edward was a member of the VFW Post 2950 in Corydon, and the American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lillie Mae Ayers Beauchamp and his brother, Mitchell Ayers. He is survived by brothers, Charles Ayers (Darlene), Wayne Ayers (Stephanie), and Douglas Ayers; sister, Barbara Ayers Thompson (Roger); sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Ayers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday and after 10:00 am Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 am Monday in the Kraft Chapel with burial and military honors to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
