David A. Roche, Jr., 70, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Silvercrest in New Albany, Indiana. He was born July 10, 1943 to the late David A. Roche, Sr. and Sarah (Douds) Roche. He retired from CSX railroad after 25 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 where he served in many roles, including Commander for 9 years. David was married for 24 years to Alma Jo Hundley Roach and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville Band Boosters, and Knights of Columbus John F. Kennedy Council #1348. He was very involved in the American Legion at the local, state, and national levels and was instrumental in many of the Post 28’s achievements and the construction of the new post home in 1994. David was also an avid UK fan and started the Marshall Neeley Scholarship.
Survivors include his daughters, Regina Lamb (Randall), Kimberly Vance; twin sister, Mary Theresa McPherson (Charles Lynn); companion, Cathy Hopper; 2 grandchildren, Cody and Jordan Vance; 1 great grandson, Colt Vance; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:00 am until 2:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service and military honors will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky at a later date.
