My sincere condolences to Rob's family and many friends.  

I was lucky to meet Rob when I started my career with the provincial government.  He was so kind, generous with his time and expertise, and always so much fun to be around.  During long work days, I'd always look forward to the stories he'd share about his family.  It was evident how much he loved them and what a wonderful dad and husband he was.

Rob left an indelible mark on those lucky enough to know him and I’m grateful to have been part of that group.  Rest in peace, my friend.

My deepest condolences to Rob's family and friends.  I had the tremendous privilege of working with him, where we shared an office wall.  From my first day onwards, he was always welcoming and generous with his time, willing to offer up some advice, a laugh or commiserate on shared frustrations!  

I appreciated his laid-back but diligent approach and thankful to have had the opportunity to know him.

I had the chance to work with Rob for a number of years on Canada-U.S. relations (I am based in the U.S. Midwest).  Rob was always the consummate professional, but he was equally a wonderful person.  He was always upbeat and a joy to be around.  I was happy to call him both a friend and a colleague.

I’m saddened to hear the news of Rob’s passing. I send sincere condolences to Shannon  and family.    I had the unique opportunity to work with Rob  on the MLC conference hosted in Winnipeg. He taught me how to manage details with finesse and turn difficult situations into positive outcomes. Late nights in planning were always fun knowing we had it all covered and we celebrated the milestones. I learned so much from him and will cherish the memories made.  Rob invited me to join his curling team as a spare even though I had no experience. Rob always gave encouragement and advice. One phrase I distinctly remember from working with him was “that’s a great idea, although have you considered….?  That was his diplomatic way of handling a different idea from personalities we worked for. 

Until we meet again my friend, rest easy. 

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rob. We have lots of fun memories with him and his support to our organization. Our condolences and prayers to Shannon and Roe family. May Rob rest in peace.

I was very saddened to hear of Rob's passing.  I had been a work colleague of his for many years.  He was the best of what Manitoba's public service could offer: he was kind, generous, hard working, and passionate about his work.  He was truly a happy warrior who avoided cynicism.  I will miss him.

I knew Rob as a work colleague I met at an intergovernmental conference in 2014. Rob had a special way to instantly put everyone he met at ease. Despite being at a work function, Rob was always a joy to be around. I would see Rob a couple times a year and always looked forward to spending time with him. Every interaction I had with Rob was filled with laughter and joy and I always learned something from him. Rob was always warm, funny, and genuinely authentic and heartfelt and had a way to truly connect with everyone he met. He was an amazing human being, and I am grateful that I got to know him, learn from him, and be inspired by him. I will forever remember Rob fondly. God bless.


We were so sorry to hear about Rob’s passing.   We send our condolences & prayers to Shannon, her children & family.  We will miss his humour, laugh and his smiles.  We loved getting together with Shannon & Rob sharing laughs & good times.  We will truly miss him.

Rob was a man of integrity. We had the honour of knowing Rob first through his work at the Province, and then through our  friendship.

We we always remember the long conversations that were filled with laughter, the dinners that left our bellies full and our hearts uplifted, the hard work that kept our candles lit at both ends, and the gatherings that made everyone present (friend or stranger) feel included and special.

Rob was “one of the good guys”.  He cared about this world and the people in it. He loved his family fiercely, and was a wonderful friend.  His work for the Province was always professional, innovative, and thorough. Whatever he did, he strived to bring his best.

Through all these words, it comes down to this - We love you Rob. We miss you. We will do our best to honour your words, and when we meet, the first round is on us.

Condolences to Shannon and family. I worked many years with Rob and I can tell you he was the go to person if you needed information and a project completed properly. He was a strong advocate for the project proponents. Rob was totally committed to helping.  He was a true professional. 
Rob was one of the nicest and kindest people I've know. I will always remember him for his compassion.

I was very sad to find out that my friend Rob Roe has left this mortal realm. I didn’t cry – until I saw the obituary and read these beautiful words thru my tears:

Please don’t mourn my passing as I have lived my life on my terms.
There is no greater freedom than doing so.
Remember the good times and cherish the moments we shared together as I do.
I will wait to see you again but please don’t be in a rush to come see me.
Live long and happy lives for then we will have much to talk about.

They said so much about who Rob was as a person and a friend – he was a kind and a gentleman.  We had lunches together and we met with family and friend for drinks, dinners and so many social gatherings.  

I always remember at work when Rob would pop his head out of his office and raise his eyebrow and say – hmm I heard the “sweetie” being said in your clipped British voice – who is in trouble now.  Rob knew me so well and when I said sweetie in that tone – I usually was annoyed. 

But again, when I read those beautiful words, I am reminded that Rob is” just around the corner” and we’ll meet again.

Rob meant so many things to so many people, but I know Shannon, their children and grandchildren will miss Rob so much and my heart is very sad for you.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shannon, children Melissa (Sal), Travis (Lisa) and Andrew (Jennifer), grandchildren Brooklyn, Lorenzo, Milayna, Lincoln, Vienna and Kinsley. He will also be missed by his mother Lillian Roe, siblings Gerald Roe (Roberta) and Linda Roe, niece Madisson (Sean), nephew Sean (Ashley), as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins.


Robert is predeceased by father Richard Roe, grandparents Harold Vincent and Eva Roe, John and Lena Baron.
