A beautiful soul. A kind generous thoughtful lady. A heart of gold. A stubborn streak. A Covid survivor. Family meant everything to her. Sadly, on December 3, 2024 at the age of 100, shortly before her 101st birthday, she passed away peacefully at Concordia Place with family at her side.
She was a very much-loved Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Margaret was an accomplished artist, organizer, confidante, cook, and baker. Her specialties included cream puffs and raisin bread, to name a few. She wondered how her children knew when to show up at her door hoping to be a happy recipient of her freshly baked goodies.
She was predeceased by her parents, Julien and Bertha Buysse and her husband of 51 years, Charles Albert Boone in 1995. Her son-in-law Guy, passed away in May of 2022.
Surviving are her 7 children – Julie Douville, Charles Boone (Tracy), Sharon LaFrance (Len), Ken Boone (Annette), Mary Carriere (Ghislain), Deb Baxter (Ron), and Jeff Boone (Angela).
Gramma, Mamie, Mame, will also be missed and fondly remembered by her 13 grandchildren – Christian Boone (Diana), Adam Boone (Tanja), Jason LaFrance (Shannon), Alison Kazakoff (Andrew), Christine Dunbar (Keith), Derek Boone (Melissa), Sean Carriere (Kelsey), Stefanie Enfield (Josh), Julie Baxter (Nick), Chad Baxter (Meagan), Kennedy Boone (Roman), CJ, and Harrison Boone.
Her 11 great-grandchildren include Kiran, Mayzie, Ethan, Addisen, Keira, Aidan, Charli, Willow, Gavin, Cassidy, and Norah. Their grandmother/great grandmother loved, encouraged, and always demonstrated genuine interest in each and every one of them.
To also mourn her loss are her many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She has been described as a groovy grandmother, a classy redhead, and a feisty spirited lady. She leaves one wonderful legacy.
Margaret was born and raised in St. Boniface and was very proud of her Belgian heritage. It was at the Belgian Club where she met and shortly after married Charles (Chas), the love of her life.
Margaret was a worrier, slept little, and worked hard all of her life. It was always a joy to converse with her; she had such a positive attitude. She loved to laugh with her family and friends.
The family thanks and is grateful for the care and compassion shown by the health care aides, nurses, and the admin team at Concordia Place.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the Belgium Club.
At a large family get-together on her 96th birthday party, her words continue to echo and will influence us for many years to come.
“I’ve been blessed. Hope it goes through to you. You’ve got to keep that chain linked. Don’t forget your relatives and friends. Love them! That’s the big one.”
Thank you Mom, Margaret Boone, for all the moments you’ve made meaningful, memorable, and special…..in each of our lives.
