Predeceased by wife Madeleine (Allard), son Wayne, and granddaughter Natalie.
Survived by children Edwin and Denis (Lise), grandchildren and great grandchildren David (Tanya); Yvonne (Kelly) Leah and Kate; Jeanette (Maurice), José, Louise and Emile; Andrea (Mike), Ally, Nathen and Christian (Jacqueline) Kapri, Maya and Céleste.
Marcel was many things in his lifetime including a logger, bus driver, barber, welder, farmer, line worker at the Canada Packers pork and beef plant, and the tuba player in a band. After marrying Madeleine in 1945, they moved several years later to Haywood to raise their three sons Edwin, Denis and Wayne. After over 20 years on the farm the couple moved to Winnipeg in retirement.
Retirement saw Marcel and Madeleine travel, enjoying bus tours across Canada and the United States. At home Marcel could be found in his woodshop making spoon racks and toys for his grandchildren, or repairing bicycles for neighbourhood kids. He always enjoyed playing cards, and being lucky, rarely lost a game of penny bingo. Marcel was an active member of his community and the church. He was altar server for many years at their home parish of St.Eugène in St.Vital.
Always curious, he collected clippings of interesting facts about the world’s largest potato, or longest hair and loved to fill conversations with interesting facts. He loved a good joke, especially with his grandkids. We will miss his sense of humour and his stories.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Villa Youville, Sr. Irène and Sr. Cécile, as well as Dr. Fredette, Dr. Steve, and the nursing staff at Ste. Anne hospital for their kindness and care.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 2 pm, prayers at 1:30 pm, Ste. Anne Catholic Church, 162 Centrale Ave, Ste. Anne, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St. Winnipeg, or to a charity of your choice.
