Joseph Liska

Peacefully, our dearly loved Dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at Resthaven Personal Care Home in Steinbach. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1920, Dad immigrated to Canada with his family in 1938. Mom and Dad met and married in Toronto in 1949. They came to Steinbach to begin their life together. Working hard, side by side, they raised their three children on a dairy farm in the Friedensfeld area.

After 27 years of farming, they retired and built a home in east Steinbach. Traveling with mom, gardening, yard care, and tinkering in his workshop kept dad busy and happy!

After 27 years in east Steinbach, Mom and Dad moved to Fernwood Place where Dad enjoyed his new lifestyle. Mom passed away in July 2014 and with the help of family, Dad was able to manage on his own for a time. Dad moved to Greendale Assisted Living in Grunthal where he received additional help. In July 2016 Dad became a resident at the Resthaven Personal Care home.

So proud to call him their Dad are his daughter Mary (husband Ron Mantie) of Summerside PEI, his daughter Jeanette (husband Bernie Kielich) of Steinbach, and his son John (wife Denine) also of Steinbach. Dad's grandchildren have many wonderful memories of their awesome grandfather. Missing him are his grandson Dustin Mantie (partner Tracy Little and their children Jacob, Mollie, and Dane) of Stanley Bridge PEI, his grandson Denton Liska (wife Nicole and their son Easton) of Thompson Mb, granddaughter Breanne Kielich of Vancouver BC, grandson Joshua Liska (wife Renee) of Winnipeg Mb, and grandson Riley Kielich (wife Kristin) of Steinbach. Dad was predeceased by his granddaughter Jillian Mantie in 1998.

A celebration of Dad's long and fulfilling life will be held Thursday, April 6th at Christ Our Saviour Catholic Church in Steinbach with private family interment at Green Acres Cemetery.

Sadly missed but always in our hearts.
