It is with great sadness, the family wishes to announce the passing of Earl Mattson on July 22, 2024 at Vista Park Lodge, following a short illness.
Earl was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on September 4, 1931 to Ingeborg and Einar Mattson. At a young age, Earl and his parents relocated to Piney, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm. He relocated to Winnipeg and married Madeline Goytan in 1954. They settled in St. Vital in 1960 and they raised 5 children. Earl was employed by the city of Winnipeg Transit System for most of his working life. He held positions as a driver and later in the control center. He retired in 1991, Earl and Madeline enjoyed many road trips to the U.S.A. especially, Texas.
Earl was predeceased by Madeline in 2012. He is survived by his children Richard (Jean), Lawrence (Joanne), Barbara Wright (Ron), Cathy Johnston (Neil) and Susan Trueman (Todd). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Earl married Edda Cabrero Drul in 2018. We are grateful for her companionship and devotion provided to Earl especially in the last years of his life
Earl was also predeceased by his parents, and brother Donald. He is also survived by his brother Ivan Mattson.
Earl was a hard working father and husband. He worked many early morning and late night shifts in all weather conditions. He was the epitome of the professional driver. He also gained the respect of all his fellow workers in the Control Center for his performance in many difficult traffic situations.
Dad, your pain and suffering are now over. You are now reunited with Mom. Till we meet again, our love for you burns eternally.
