He was predeceased by his parents Alfio & Dina
Bruno was born and lived in St Boniface with his parents and his younger siblings until 1971. In 1971, the Carloni’s moved to Wales Avenue in St Vital.
Bruno and Roberta were happily married for 40 plus years. They had a son Justin and daughter Jenny. With the help of his dad and brothers they built their forever home.
Bruno worked with his dad from a young age learning the family business of ceramic tile installation. Once his dad retired 1996, Bruno took over the business which he continued until his retirement in the early 2020’s. Bruno loved to brag about all the jobs he completed over the years. Every time he would drive around Winnipeg he would point out building after building and proudly say, “I tiled that”.
Bruno always loved to go fishing. In his earlier years he would also go hunting with his dad. Even when he was older he spent many days on the water, fishing with his friends (especially Chad), his son and his grandchildren. He was very proud of his fishing record of several master angler titles! The freezer was always stocked with pickerel.
He loved listening to music, watching hockey, and spending time with his children and grandkids. He was well known for sharing a tale or two, and was always happy to have a fresh audience to entertain. Bruno never had a lack of stories or advice to give anyone in any situation.
Another passion of his was traveling. His first trip to Italy was in 1966 which ignited his need to see the world. He ended up returning to Italy in ‘77. He talked about these trips often. Pretty sure everyone recalls the story of the big old oak tree! He would return to Italy twice more in 2015 and 2022 to meet with family and explore the country. His last trip to Italy was very exciting and special as it was filled with meeting new relatives, reacquainting with the ones he already knew and getting to know his family roots in more depth.
Bruno and Roberta did their best to follow the sunshine every winter with a trip south. Sometimes they would go to Jamaica, other times they would visit their time share in Puerto Vallarta. On more than one occasion they would book a cruise in the Caribbean, even though Bruno would have to deal with sea sickness every time. They also made sure to cover as much of Canada and the US by car whenever possible, driving cross country to BC or Alberta, driving around the Atlantic Provinces or sightseeing in Florida and Las Vegas.
We will miss our beloved friend, father, nonno and husband.
Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Green Acres Funeral Home Hwy #1 East at Navin Road Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will be held after the service at Holy Angel Mausoleum.
The family wishes to thank Dr Michael Cummings and his staff. A special thank you to the compassionate nurses on the Palliative Care ward who made his last days comfortable.
