Salvador Lopez Reyes

Salvador Lopez Reyes was born on December 9, 1939, in Bacoor, Cavite. His parents, Venancio Reyes and Felicidad Lopez Reyes, welcomed him along with his five siblings - Leonardo, Rodolfo, Ermalita, Baltazar, and a younger brother who left us too soon. Salvador had a happy childhood filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.

Education played an essential role in Salvador's life, and he attended both Arellano University and Feati University, where he honed his skills and developed a strong sense of discipline. In 1966, Salvador joined the Navy, dedicating himself to service and duty. His commitment led him to rise through the ranks, and he retired in 1986 as a Chief Petty Officer. Salvador's naval career was marked by dedication, camaraderie, and a sense of duty to his country.

Salvador's greatest adventure awaited him in the form of love. In 1970, he met Salome, the love of his life, while stationed in Guam. They exchanged vows on April 17, 1971, and were blessed with three children: Allan, Michael, and Sharon. As a father, Salvador worked tirelessly to provide for his family. His role as a husband was equally significant, and he navigated life's challenges with grace and resilience. His love for his children knew no bounds.

Salvador wore many hats beyond his military service. He worked at Balboa Hospital and served as a barber at MCRD. His passion for cutting hair led him to open his own barbershop, aptly named Kutz and Fades, where he not only trimmed hair but also listened to stories, shared laughter and built connections with his clients. In his leisure time, Salvador enjoyed visiting the casino, cheering for the Lakers, and watching his favorite Filipino channels TFC and GMA.

Salvador passed away on April 4th, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. He is survived by his three children Allan, Michael, and Sharon, as well as his son-in-law Philip. His six grandchildren - Madeline, Isaiah, Alanna, Kalona, Kaycee, and Kaden - and great-grandson Laith, will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. A Funeral Mass in his honor will take place at St. Charles Catholic Church on April 26th, 2024. Salvador's final resting place is at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
