Nestor was born in Chula Vista on March 22, 1963 to Nestor and Isabel Cervantes. He grew up in Colonia Libertad in Tijuana. They moved to South San Diego when he was in the 8th grade, where he soon met his lifelong best friends. He Graduated from Mar Vista High School in 81’. After high school he became a welder, just like his dad. In 1984 he received an AA Degree from ITT Tech. His ultimate passion was welding and started working for the Sweetwater Union High School District part-time in 85’. In partnership with SUHSD, he started working at San Diego Job Corp in 03’. He absolutely loved being a Welding Instructor; this is where he truly thrived. He was in his element.
Nestor was a devoted husband, father and son. His entire purpose for living was to take care of his family. In 93’ he married the love of his life, Michelle and they had two wonderful boys, Nestor Jr. and Julian. He always made it a point to call his mother every night, as well as visiting them every Friday after work. Nestor touched everyone he met. He was a sharp shooter, there was no grey area with him .He either liked you or he didn’t. Once you were a friend of Nestor you were a friend for life. He was a kind and loyal man who would give you the shirt off his back. Nestor had a passion for life and work. He inspired his welding students’ everyday and he truly wanted them all to succeed. Nestor was a huge “San Diego” Charger fan, a season ticket holder for 13 yrs. and would never miss a chance to tailgate in D4 with family and friends. He was also known for bringing out the tequila with his “shot glass kit” and orange slices. His laugh was infectious and when Nestor was around, that’s where you wanted to be.
We have truly lost a great man.
