Yvonne Anneice Gooch Smith

Ms. Yvonne A. Gooch Smith age 72, of Nashville, TN, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. After a courageous battle with brain cancer passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice Nashville with family and friends surrounding her. She peacefully slipped into her heavenly journey.

Yvonne was born October 14, 1944. She is a graduate of Pearl High School and Tennessee A & I State University. She was employed by Bellsouth Telecommunications Company until she retired.

She was one of five children born to the late Clifton and Gleaves Gooch and also preceded in death by her sister Patricia Frye. She is survived by her beloved sons Brien Russell and Brandon Ross Smith, brothers Clifton (Peggy), James Gooch, Nashville, Tennessee and sister Mary Ellen Gooch, Houston, Texas. Devoted nephew Darrell (Kim) Frye. Extended family Iretha and India Ladd, Anniece Hallmes, Tangela (Tay) and little Tariyah Towner, along with countless nieces, nephews, other family and friends whom were blessed to countless nieces, nephews, other family and friends whom were blessed to know her. Yvonne loved working all kinds of puzzles, laughing, reading, sewing and being with her family and having fun with her friends.

Yvonne touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. An active member of Metropolitan Interdenominational Church, she served faithfully as an Usher and with First Response.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at noon, Metropolitan Interdenominational Church, she served faithfully as an Usher and with First Response.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Tuesday from ten o’clock until the funeral hour at Metropolitan Interdenominational Church.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request memorial contributions be made to First Response Sender.
