Dr. William Everette Hunt

Dr. William Everette Hunt, age 86 years, passed away on May 27, 2021. He was born on September 2, 1934 in Trenton, TN to the late William Happel Hunt and Vera Nell (Conlee) Hunt. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Owens Hunt; daughters, Dr. Karen Hunt (Tony Birmingham) and Janice Hunt Hoagey (David Hoagey). He attended Vanderbilt University graduating with a BA Cum Laude in 1956. He completed his Master’s Degree in Physics at Vanderbilt in 1958. He graduated from Florida State University in 1962 with his Doctorate of Philosophy in Nuclear Physics.

Dr. Hunt taught Physics at David Lipscomb University from 1962 until his retirement. He was passionate about teaching often encouraging his many students to pursue and reach their goals.

Dr. Hunt was role model to all who sought his advice, mentoring others to excel in life. He created an enjoyable atmosphere in his classroom, bringing fun to physics and applying it to practical applications of life.

Dr. Hunt was a long-term member of Hillsboro Church of Christ and shared the love of his Lord by his gentle and kind spirit toward others.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from twelve-thirty until two-thirty in the afternoon on Wednesday, June 2 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two-thirty in the afternoon on Wednesday, June 2 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
