Virginia Ruth Wott Gable was born in Washington, D.C, to the late Rev. Ralph and Marion Wott. Ginny was the oldest of three sisters. In 1950 she met her husband of 68 years, William Gable, while both were students at Westminster Choir College. Two sons were born to them, Gordon and Richard. When the boys began attending school, Ginny resumed her education and earned a Bachelors’ degree in Education from Hillyer College, followed by a Masters’ from the University of Hartford. In 1974, Bill and Ginny moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
As a teacher, Ginny loved the children she worked with. She taught elementary grades in Connecticut and Tennessee for many years, using her gifts to develop young minds with her many creative music ideas and lesson plans.
Ginny was an active member of Eastern Star for many years, holding two statewide offices. Also active in her church, Holy Trinity Lutheran, Ginny led a junior choir and sang in the adult choir.
Ginny leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, a sister, two sons, two granddaughters, six grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in the kindness and love that was shown to all of us.
