Sue Ann was born December 10, 1927, the daughter of Suzanne Martin Mannion and Michael Frances Mannion, and step-daughter of Frances Josephine Mannion.
Sue Ann was a life-long educator in both Metro Nashville Schools and St. Henry Catholic School. She graduated from St. Cecilia Academy and George Peabody College.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Phillip G. Simpson, and nine children, Sue Ann Enneis (Bill) of Alachua, Florida, Michael (Andrea) of Bartlett,Tennessee, Mark, Margaret Dunning (Brian), Patrick (Stephanie), Frank (Margaret), Jim (Ellen), Kathleen Pearson (Eddie),and Paul (Sallie); 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Francis Johnson.
Sue Ann was a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of the TSSAA Hall of Fame and the Catholic Business Women’s League, Ladies of Charity, and above all a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
Visitation with the family will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, April 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and then 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary by the Ladies of Charity beginning at 2:00 p.m., and the Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
