Sue was "a Talker," a Daddy's girl; a tomboy growing up- reveling in working alongside her Dad as a kid building a house or riding a horse- and she had wonderful memories of being a part of a large, extended Alabama family..In 1969, after receiving her CPA credentials at The University of South Alabama, Sue Headed north to Nashville - landing a job at a CPA firm and later as a CPA at Truckstops of America, Inc. In 1978, Sue married Mel Harris and they lived happily in Brentwood for 44 years. Sue exited corporate life in 1985 and became a devoted "stay at home mom" to two sons: Chris and Brian. She was incredibly proud of her two sons and her 5 grandchildren. Thrifty and frugal, Sue also loved visiting her "happy place"- the casinos in Tunica, Beau Rivage, Oak Grove, Las Vegas, Metropolis or Wind Creek. Upbeat with a sunny disposition, Sue never complained during her 5 year encounter with cancer. She was always kind, sensitive and loved animals- wheather it was a dog, cat or pet squirrel. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include, her husband Mel Harris of Brentwood; sons, Chris(Julie Wallace) Harris of Knoxville, Brian (Katrina) Harris of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Rupert, of Knoxville, and Arianna, Benjamin, Declan and Killian all of Murfreesboro; sister, Marcia Kirby of Murfreesboro; niece, Jennifer Taylor of Murfreesboro; nephew Jason Kirby of Chelsea, Alabama.
