A bright and beautiful young woman, she attended Harpeth Hall School (Class of 2002) and Auburn University (Class of 2007) where she received a BS degree in Zoology, with an emphasis on biodiversity and conservation.
A naturalist through and through, Sarah worked for the Forest Service in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, leaving to work on the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico and then was employed to help restore the environment following the Enbridge Pipeline leak and the Yellowstone River spill. Sarah loved the outdoors, a passion that was nurtured when she was a young girl at Camp Marymount in Fairview, TN. She attended many summers there as a camper and later a counselor and enjoyed every aspect of living outdoors, especially riding horses; Sarah became a skilled English hunter jumper as well as Western rider. She was a student of the Tom Brown Wilderness School, learning tremendous survival skills. Animals of all kinds were dear to her. A fine athlete in high school, Sarah played soccer, softball, and ran cross country. In her adult years, she ran regularly for pleasure and often competed in half marathons always lapping her mother. Of all Sarah's accomplishments and passions, the one that brought her greatest joy and pride, is her four-year old daughter, Bella to whom she was totally and completely devoted.
Sarah leaves behind her daughter, Isabella Reese, her loving mother, Carolyn Harwood Schneider, stepfather, Barrett Sutton, Jr.; her sister and best friend, Janet Marie Britt; her grandparents, Jack Schneider (Nell) and Lorraine McCoy; adoring uncles, Jac Schneider, Drew Schneider (Janet), Ross Schneider; cousins, Joseph Schneider, Eleanor Schneider, Brandon Schneider (Rachel), Bailey Schneider; and many good and loyal friends.
Visitation will be Friday, July 15, between 11:00 and 1:00 at Woodmont Christian Church, 3601 Hillsboro Road in Nashville, with the service immediately following.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Land Trust of Tennessee, Camp Marymount, The Nashville Food Project or any environmental sustainability organization of choice.
