Roy Allen Goin

Roy Allen Goin departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2019. He was 76. Roy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon, and by his siblings, Rose Goin Wilson, and James Goin. He was the loving father of four children: Amanda Goin Burgess (husband, Matt), Joshua Goin (wife, Beth Rose), Megan Goin Pace, and Will Goin (wife, Tania). He was the proud grandfather of ten: Megan Barlowe, Jolie Goin, Noah Pace, August Pace, Edith Pace, Ezekiel Goin, Etana Goin, Coralily Goin, Solomon Goin, and Abraham Goin.

Roy was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. After he graduated from UT in 1968, Roy joined the United States Air Force. He served as a missile launch officer. As the Vietnam War was winding down, Roy was honorably discharged, at which time he had obtained the rank of Captain.

From the age of 16 and throughout his life Roy was a talented guitar and bass player. His bass playing can be heard on several recordings produced in Nashville studios. He has always been an active member in his church, particularly by using his musical talent to serve in the music ministry.

In later years Roy became a physics and calculus tutor to homeschool students. He also tutored at-risk youths, assisting them toward graduation from high school.

The funeral service will take place Saturday, January 4, at 1 pm at Church of the Redeemer with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
