Rebecca A. "Granny" Goodwin

She was born on June 4, 1924, in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Addison and Nellie Allen. She was a lifelong resident of Donelson graduated in 1942 from Donelson High School. She married the love of her life, Robert Leslie Goodwin, at Andrew Price United Methodist Church. Granny was a faithful longtime member of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church. One word to describe her would be “anchored,” whether it be physically, mentally, or spiritually. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leslie Goodwin; sister, Anita Cunningham, and brothers, Vernon, Rodney, and Thomas Allen.

She is survived by her four children, Patricia Ferguson, Bob (Donna) Goodwin, Anita Clark, and Melissa (Gary) Cheatham; eight grandchildren, Shelley (Jeff) Stinson, Brian (Julia) Ferguson, Lesli (Adam) Brisendine, Natalie (Wyatt) Cobb, Brett (Alan Tipton) Goodwin, Ashley (Blake) Estes, Crystal Clark, and Claire Cheatham; seven great grandchildren, Alex Spangler, Nicholas Ferguson, Grant Ferguson, Walker Cobb, Caroline Cobb, Grace Cobb, and Elsie Marie Estes; expecting one great grandson and great great granddaughter, Stephen Drake Brisendine and Mila Rose Spangler; several loving, caring, and supportive nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Fannie Belle Goodwin.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Donelson Heights United Methodist Church from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Donelson Heights United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm with Reverend Regina Hall officiating.

Serving as active pallbearers are Gary Cheatham, Blake Estes, Brian Ferguson, Jeff Stinson, Adam Brisendine, and Brett Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers are Pauline Moore, Frank Pointer, Marguerite Kirkpatrick, and Wanda Shaver

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donelson Heights United Methodist Church, 84 Fairway Drive, Nashville, Tennessee 37214.
