Raymond Leonard Langton of Nashville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born on June 19, 1937 in Uxbridge, Middlesex, United Kingdom , a suburb of London. As a young man, he developed a passion for jazz music and began a career in the aeronautical industry. In 1963, he moved to Montreal, Canada with his young family and began a long career in the telecom business. He came to the U.S. in 1977 and settled in Nashville, TN for a few years then was transferred to Cherry Hill, NJ. In 1990, he accepted a job transfer back to Nashville where he resided in the Green Hills area until just recently. Post retirement, Ray started a small business consulting firm servicing artists in the Nashville music industry as well as promoting Nashville jazz artists abroad. Ray - being a musican himself - had a strong love of the Nashville music scene and often attended symphonic and jazz music events. He was also an avid runner, completing many marathons through the years in multiple cities throughout the U.S. as well as London. Ray loved to play golf and tried to get in 18 holes whenever he could. He had a passion for travel and visited numerous cities throughout the world both for business and personal trips. Ray is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Nicole Langton, of Durham, North Carolina; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Wade Jenstead and grandsons Luke and Alex of Roswell, Georgia; and from the United Kingdom, his brother and sister-in-law, George and Sue Langton, his nephews Steve and Matthew Langton, his niece Katie Kithakye and his cousins Lesley, Jacqui, and Denise. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Sunday October 29, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a "Celebration of Life" reception on site. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monroe Carrell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Nashville.
