Paul completed Cohn High School in 1953, and entered Vanderbilt University where he attained a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. He also earned an M.S. in Data Processing from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and attended Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government Executive Program for Senior Defense Managers.
After graduation in 1957, Paul was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the United States Marine Corps and married his sweetheart, Marjorie. After serving over 20 years, he retired as Lieutenant Colonel. After retirement, he returned to the Marine Corps, this time as a civilian, and managed the largest computer facility in the Marine Corps. In 1992, he went on to work for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) retiring as Chief.
Paul will be remembered as a man of character and always a gentleman. He was respected, admired, and trusted by everyone. Paul enjoyed working on stained glass projects, model trains, building models and 3D puzzles, fishing, reading, and traveling. He regularly served in leadership roles in community, civic, and religious organizations. He was an impeccable dresser and always had a well-groomed, well-pressed image, no matter the occasion. He was a talented handyman who could fix or build anything with meticulous craftsmanship.
Paul is survived by his son, Bryant (Cristina); daughter, Jeannie (Matt); 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Ridge.
A gathering of family & friends for Paul will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a celebration of life from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
