Born August 13, 1939, in Bowling Green, KY, died December 7, 2013 in Nashville, TN. Mary was the daughter of the late Henry Patton and Mary Emma Kincaid. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, A. Harrison (“Harry”) Johnson, Jr. and her brother, Henry Patton “Pat” Kincaid, of Danville, KY. Mary is survived by Callie Johnson and Harrison (Lisa) Johnson, both of Nashville; three grandchildren, Avery, Addison and Drew; and seven nieces and nephews.
A vocal talent, Mary competed regionally as a member of the A Capella Choir at Lebanon High School. In 1961, Mary graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University and started her career as a speech pathologist at the Bill Wilkerson Center. She was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, the American Speech and Hearing Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Alpha Omicron Pi. Mary always put her faith in God and family first and touched many lives with her kind heart and cheerful smile. Her greatest loves were church, spending time with her beloved husband and family and expressing her creativity through her gardens and home.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 13, 1:30 pm, with visitation starting at 12:30 pm, at St. George’s Episcopal Church. Interment in the St. George's Columbarium will follow the service. The Rev. Sarah Puryear will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church or Alive Hospice.
