Mary was born on May 3, 1938 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Allen and Julia Brudny Holloway. She married Jay E. Jacobs, Jr on June 17, 1961 in Louisville. They spent 59 wonderful years together, and Jay
passed away 14 hours after Mary.
Surviving are her daughters, Julie Jacobs, Joni (Randy) Russell, and Jan Claiborne; grandchildren, Kristi, Jake and Matthew Russell, and Katie and Ben Claiborne; sisters, Rita Powell and Wanda Parrish; and brother, Richard Holloway.
Preceding her in death are her parents; sisters, Leola Moore, Margie Florence and Florence Willoughby.
Mary was a graduate of Southern High School, and attended Ursuline College in Louisville, KY.
A long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Mary lived her life with faith. She was a loving and proud mom and nanny, and she was kind and generous to all. Mary liked to have fun, and her laughter was always contagious.
Mary enjoyed casino trips, watching her Braves play, baking, and singing. She loved singing so much, she would sing from the Pine Room, to USO trips, to singing along with the Opry.
Cremation was Mary’s choice, and she requested that no visitation or funeral service be held.
Her cremated remains will be scattered in Louisville, KY, and a party to celebrate her life per her wishes will be held at a later date.
