NASHVILLE – Mary Coble Follin, age 89, died peacefully at home on May 24, 2018. She was born November 3, 1928 in Nashville, TN. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Webb Follin, Jr., her parents, Neely and Mary Katherine Coble, her brother, Neely B. Coble, Jr. and beloved family members, Mary Elizabeth Dinkins and William Robinson. She is survived by her children, Mary Follin Simonsen (Chris), Katherine Cleveland Follin (Robert Lipman), Gerald Webb Follin, III, Grace Greenlaw Follin (Alan Fisher), grandchildren Charles Webb Canady, Grace Anne Canady, great grandchild Abel Christian Canady, brother George William Coble, and dear friend and companion Honorable William Wilder Bivins.
Mary devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchild, who affectionately referred to her as GranMary. Her home was always open and served as a place of gathering for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining, fly fishing, and especially gardening.
After graduating from Ward-Belmont School, Mary attended Vanderbilt University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a founding member and elder in Hillwood Presbyterian Church. Always of service to others, she was active in the YWCA Nashville & Middle TN., Junior League of Nashville, The Centennial Club, Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of the American Revolution, and James K. Polk Society. She was also a member of Stoney Crest Garden Club and Belle Meade Country Club.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the five caregivers, Denise Mallone, Mary Johnson, Annie Dansby, Myneva Ballow, and Monica Doumas, for their devotion and care of Mary.
A celebration of life service (casual attire) will be held June 12, 2018, 6 pm, 1311 Moran Road, Franklin, TN. 37069.
